Project Manager – Due Diligence (Wind / PV / BESS)

Purpose of Role
Deliver technical due diligence (DD) services for renewable energy projects, with a focus on wind, solar PV, or battery energy storage systems (BESS). Support all project phases including construction, acquisition, and operational monitoring, while building expertise in contracts, commercial risks, and stakeholder engagement.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage assigned technical due diligence projects, coordinating multidisciplinary input from engineering, environmental, and legal specialists.

• Review project design, permitting status, and technical assumptions for compliance with lender and investor requirements.

• Assist in reviewing contracts such as EPC, O&M, and asset management agreements, under the guidance of a senior team member.

• Provide inputs into financial model assumptions, including stress testing and sensitivity analyses.

• Prepare clear, concise technical reports and presentations in a lender-style format.

• Participate in site visits during construction, reporting on build progress, quality standards, and contractual compliance.

• Support operational monitoring activities by collecting and analysing asset performance data.

• Develop client and lender relationships to assist with business development activities.

Detailed Duties

Technical Due Diligence:

• Delivery of technical due diligence assignments for onshore wind, solar PV, and BESS projects.

• Authoring and quality assurance of technical reports within a collaborative team environment.

• Coordination of contributions from internal technical specialists.

• Assessment of capital expenditure and operational cost assumptions.

• Technical and commercial review of key contracts, including EPC, equipment supply, O&M, and power purchase agreements (PPAs).

Technology Tendering and Negotiation:

• Involvement in technology selection and tender evaluations for turbines, PV modules/inverters, and BESS systems.

• Participation in factory visits and supplier assessments.

• Support in negotiating technical and commercial terms of project agreements.

Site Inspections:

• Attendance at site visits for inspection of wind, PV, and BESS assets.

• Equipment inspections (e.g., turbines, inverters, battery containers).

• Preparation of site visit reports and quality assurance reviews.

• Support with progress certifications and construction monitoring for financial institutions.

General:

• Build subject matter expertise in specific technical areas to support internal teams.

Project Management:

• Day-to-day management of consultancy projects, including stakeholder liaison, delivery planning, and budget tracking.

• Coordination of technical contributors across various disciplines.

Required Skills & Experience

• 3–5 years of experience in renewable energy projects within consultancy, development, or EPC contexts.

• Exposure to lender and acquisition due diligence processes.

• Familiarity with commercial terms in EPC and O&M agreements.

• Technical background in wind energy, solar PV, or BESS.

• Strong analytical, communication, and organisational capabilities.

• Interest in developing skills in operational monitoring and performance analysis.
