Senior Electrical Engineer
Our client is looking for a talented and driven Senior Electrical Engineer to play a crucial role in realising their project goals. As the Senior Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for providing electrical concept development and front-end engineering design, transitioning projects from concept to deliverable work packages. You will work on a diverse portfolio, including solar, storage, and private wire projects. Key Responsibilities
Demonstrate exceptional electrical engineering expertise, showcasing your ability to lead and create value in a highly competitive and ever-changing marketplace.
Ensure that all engineering activities related to the company's Storage, Solar, and Private Wire portfolio adhere to statutory requirements and the company's policies on safety, quality, engineering, and design management.
Focus on optimisation and efficiency to push the boundaries of delivering a
sustainable renewable future.
Work closely with the development team, delivery team, and other departments within the organisation to secure the necessary support and resources required to achieve our ambitious portfolio.
Foster a strong, collaborative, and positive working culture within the development function, the wider business, and with our clients contract partners.
Contribute to governance, oversight, and support activities for projects.
Embed engineering excellence, operational experience, and best available techniques into engineering activities.
Consider risk and lifetime costs in all engineering endeavours.
Support the development team in creating new sites, encompassing Battery Energy Storage, Solar, Private Wire, and Hybrid projects, which may include other technologies such as wind or hydrogen.
Play an integral role in the development team, leading on electrical optioneering, to ensure feasible electrical engineering solutions are developed and progressed into delivery.
Provide Electrical Engineering support to other development team members, with a particular focus on cable routing between power parks.
Work closely with the delivery Electrical Engineers and wider team to standardise processes and improve project efficiency.
Provide support during the handover of projects to the delivery phase.
Maintain technical risks, assumptions, issues, and decision logs.
Keep a comprehensive understanding of the systems being worked on to ensure technical excellence throughout the asset's lifetime.
Stay updated with the latest technologies and industry trends to maintain technical proficiency and drive innovation.
Build successful relationships with external partners, peers, stakeholders, and reporting lines to enhance collaboration, project success, and exciting field.
Qualifications and Requirements
Demonstrated experience as a successful senior electrical engineer in developing or delivering projects or programs.
Ability to establish and manage relationships, maintain a safe environment, manage priorities, and inspire and influence behaviours and actions.
Strong commitment to safety, health, environment, and quality practices.
Minimum of an electrical engineering degree. Chartered membership of an appropriate engineering body would be an advantage.
NEBOSH or IOSH (or equivalent) certification is desirable.
Highly proficient in Electrical Engineering, especially MV/HV within generation environments.
Ability to review create/electrical designs, schematics and specifications.
Demonstratable experience in performing preliminary electrical apparatus ratings and cable size estimation.
Competency to scope and review technical FEED studies(load flow, reactive power capability etc.)
Proven experience in managing risks and challenges in an industrial-scale generation environment, particularly in front end electrical engineering design.
Track record of building successful relationships with external partners, peers, stakeholders, and reporting lines.
Prior experience within the renewables or energy sector is advantageous.
Good command of Microsoft Office package (MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, etc.).
