Key Responsibilities
- Lead the technical and commercial development of BESS projects from initial site assessment to financial close and construction handover.
- Develop robust business cases for BESS projects, including market analysis, revenue modelling, cost estimation, and financial viability assessments.
- Oversee the technical design and specification of BESS solutions, ensuring optimal integration with Wind and Solar plants.
- Manage procurement processes, including technical and commercial negotiations with suppliers and contractors.
- Develop detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets, aligning with strategic goals and financial targets.
- Identify and manage risks specific to BESS projects in Eastern Europe.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, grid code requirements, and local regulations.
- Act as a key technical and commercial liaison for internal teams, external partners, regulatory bodies, and investors.
- Support power purchase agreement (PPA) negotiations with technical and commercial insights related to BESS.
Essential Experience and Skills
- A minimum of 10 years in the renewable energy sector, with a focus on project development and management of energy infrastructure projects.
- Proven experience in BESS project development, including business case analysis and financial fundamentals.
- Expertise in co-locating BESS with renewable energy generation (Wind or Solar).
- Strong commercial acumen and understanding of energy markets and revenue streams.
- Exceptional analytical, financial modelling, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent negotiation and communication abilities.
- Strong project management skills, with proficiency in relevant tools and methodologies.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
Desirable Experience
- Experience in Eastern European energy markets.
- Familiarity with grid connection processes for BESS and hybrid projects.
Educational Background
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, Energy Economics, Business Administration, or a related field. An advanced degree or relevant professional certifications (e.g., PMP, CFA) is advantageous.
