Commercial Business Development Manager

Our client are looking for a Commercial Business Development Manager to join their team in the UK. The successful candidate will  be responsible for supporting the commercial optimisations of development projects.
Key Accountabilities
  • Identifying new business opportunities , securing the land rights and establishing the strategy for delivering value from the site , including commercial , planning , community and technical strategies .
  • Assess and advise on markets and technologies to ensure that the next generation of sites are targeted at strong market opportunities .
  • Management of all relationship with and contractual obligations with landowners and manage all land aspects through design, planning, financial close and construction phase
  • Able to originate and manage development  of renewable renewable projects, independently , from conceptualization to financial close
  • Manage independently a team of grid experts and land experts to bring projects to “Ready to build “ stage
Outcome and Results
  • Contributing to Renewable growth strategy in UK
  • Incremental MW growth achieved annually
  • Identifying new revenue strategies including corporate PPAs and CFD auctions
  • Identifying new land sites and achieve accelerated consent process

Knowledge and Skills
  • Intimate knowledge of planning , permitting and grid availability in UK
  • Strong business relationship with key stakeholders like developers, planning and grid consultant
  • Demonstrable track record of delivering renewable projects with aggregate capacity of at least 150 MW in UK .
  • Conversant with Route-to-Market optionality, including CFDs, corporate PPAs for an renewable projects
  • Detailed understanding of UK electricity sector and regulations
  • Ability of optimise costs , both capital and O&M
  • Good understanding of the  sector landscape  and relevant stakeholders like offtakers , contractors etc
  • Good understanding of land acquisition , grid connection and planning consent process /principles 
  • Understanding of EPC contracting structures and tendering processes
  • Intimate knowledge of capital costs and O&M costs linked to PV /onshore wind and batteries
  • Conversant with investment principles linked to renewable projects
  • Conversant with project financing principles
  • Financial modelling experience is desirable, not mandatory
  • Ability to proactively work to deadlines on multiple projects concurrently
  • Fluency in English is required
  • Proficiency in MS Office with advanced knowledge of power-point, excel, and MS Project

Experience
Prior experience of having developed renewable projects in UK with specific experience of:
  • Identifying / acquiring land
  • Achieving grid connection
  • Obtaining planning consents
  • Originating corporate  PPAs
  • Participating in CFD auctions

Qualifications
  • Degree qualified with relevant professional body qualifications or equivalent experience.
  • UK Drivers Licence and ability to travel nationally
