Business Development Manager - Utility Energy Storage Systems
Posted 1 hour agoOur client have become a global player in the EV and BESS manufacturing sector, manufacturing lithium-ion batteries with a core focus on the European market, covering residential, C&I, and utility projects. They are active in Germany, France, Italy, and Poland.
Our client are seeking a dynamic and knowledgeable Business Development Manager to spearhead the growth of their utility scale energy storage solutions. In this role, you'll play a critical part in uncovering new customer opportunities, fostering strategic partnerships, and driving sales in the fast-moving utility scale battery market. Ideal candidates will bring a solid background in renewable energy, battery systems, solar technology, or related fields (e.g., inverters, solar systems, or clean energy industries), along with excellent strategic and relationship-building capabilities.
Key Responsibilities

Drive the identification, evaluation, and development of new business opportunities within the utility-scale and industrial battery energy storage system (BESS) markets.

Forge and sustain strong relationships with key industry stakeholders, including project developers, EPCs, utilities, IPPs, and technology partners.

Lead the full business development lifecycle—from lead generation and opportunity assessment to deal structuring, contract negotiation, and closure.

Conduct ongoing market intelligence activities, monitoring trends, policy updates, competitor movements, and evolving customer requirements.

Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, finance, and legal teams to support the advancement of a robust and executable project pipeline.

Play a pivotal role in shaping the go-to-market approach, contributing to pricing strategies, partnership models, and refining the overall value proposition.

Develop and expand strategic alliances and distribution channels to boost market penetration and brand reach.

Partner with internal proposal and pre-sales teams to craft customized technical and commercial solutions that align with client needs.

Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and conferences, elevating brand presence and promoting product offerings.

Provide regular updates on KPIs, sales performance, and pipeline activity to the Head of Sales, contributing to strategic decision-making.
Requirements
- Experienced in project or solution engineering, preferably in the BESS sector.
- Degree educated, ideally in an Engineering or Economic discipline.
- Strong understand of BESS system components and their integration with renewable energy sources.
- Proven track record of delivering sales revenue, working against a sales target, and growing market share.
- Fluent in German and English.
