Our client is seeking a Quality Engineer to support the WTG Quality Engineering team across offshore wind projects. The role will assist in implementing contractual quality requirements, ensuring all deliverables meet the highest standards throughout manufacturing, assembly, and installation phases.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist and support the WTG Quality Engineer with portfolio responsibilities in implementing contractual quality requirements.
- Ensure contractor compliance with the Employer’s quality standards and expectations.
- Review and assess quality documentation from the supply chain.
- Plan, coordinate, and execute Quality Control (QC) activities across WTG packages.
- Manage and oversee the work of Quality Inspectors.
- Monitor and report on quality performance, inspections, and non-conformities through internal quality systems.
- Initiate, manage, and close Non-Conformance (NC) reports, implementing corrective and preventive actions.
- Maintain an auditable trail of quality activities and records.
- Liaise with contractors and suppliers to resolve quality issues and support claims processes.
- Compile as-built and installation quality records for commercial operations.
- Provide regular progress and quality reports to the Quality Manager.
- Perform other QA/QC tasks as required.
Candidate Profile:
- Proven experience in Quality Assurance and Control within the Wind Turbine Generator (WTG) sector.
- Strong understanding of offshore WTG manufacturing processes, including blades and sub-components.
- Experience leading and coordinating inspectors and daily QC activities.
- Knowledge of Inspection and Test Plans, Project Quality Plans, and tailored Quality Surveillance Programs.
- Familiarity with project certification requirements and relevant standards (e.g. VGB, European Directives).
- Experience managing contractors and supply chain quality performance.
- Fluent written and spoken English, with excellent reporting and communication skills.
- IT literate with experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Qualifications and Certifications:
- Degree-qualified Engineer or HNC/HND in Mechanical or Energy Engineering (or equivalent experience).
- Background in fabrication, assembly, and WTG manufacturing.
- APQP4Wind experience preferred.
- ISO 9001:2015 Lead Auditor qualification.
- Full driving licence.
- Valid GWO and HUET certifications (Working at Heights, Fire Awareness, First Aid) or willingness to obtain.
