This role offers a unique chance to lead the coordination and execution of safety systems for mechanical and electrical systems at onshore and offshore substations, as well as export cables. The position encompasses the entire commissioning process, from early project engagement to the final transition from construction to commissioning under safety rules.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and manage commissioning activities within HSE, QA/QC, project, contractors, and O&M guidelines.
- Prepare and review commissioning procedures and RAMS.
- Participate in HAZOP and HAZID studies.
- Plan, organise, monitor, and support site activities to ensure efficient resource use.
- Ensure project completion within budget and in accordance with company/client policies.
- Integrate ABB SCADA control systems with operator control and trading platforms.
- Lead and manage teams of SAPs, control engineers, supervisors, back-office staff, and technicians.
- Allocate tasks to commissioning teams, including contractors, ensuring high motivation and efficiency.
- Plan and execute SAP activities for onshore and offshore sub-station transmission equipment, including export cables.
- Oversee pre-commissioning activities at the construction/assembly yard.
- Manage team and individual performance, ensuring training and development needs are met.
- Address wellbeing or performance issues promptly according to established procedures.
- Represent SSE/Equinor and the JV Project at a local level.
- Handle enquiries/complaints appropriately, maintaining a positive company image.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Relevant technical education, such as an HNC/HND in engineering (ideally electrical engineering) or equivalent.
- Proven experience in a management role, coordinating commissioning activities and managing associated tasks.
- 5+ years of experience in offshore wind farm construction, commissioning, and/or operations in the UK.
- Experience as an electrical engineer or senior authorised person, ideally up to 400KV.
- Strong personal drive, quality focus, and professionalism.
