Bid Director
 
Our client is looking for a Bid Director with a special combination of skills and experience that include: drive, leadership, competitiveness, collaboration, and stakeholder management to manage bidding processes and win projects in a complex and competitive environment.
 
Role Overview
Our client is looking for a successful entry into the CATO sector from its inception and this role would be at the forefront of winning the CATO projects. The role will report to the Managing Director but will require close interaction with other Directors in the business and their respective teams. The primary responsibilities include:
 
Requirements
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Act as the bid leader for CATO projects during the PQQ and ITT stages
  • Develop bidding plans for delivery of timely, accurate, compliant and competitive bids
  • Identify potential consortium partners, develop strong relationships and formalise contractual documents required for establishing project consortia
  • Lead cross-functional teams of highly experienced individuals focused on producing high-quality deliverables for all CATO projects and other work as required
  • Create scope, timeline, budget, risk assessments and business cases for all CATO bidding activities
  • Identify the necessary internal and external resources required for successful bidding activities
  • Coordinate the internal and external resources including legal, technical and insurance advisers
  • Gather all bid inputs and lead on drafting of bid documents
  • Act as a conduit between the procuring authority our client
  • Research future CATO project pipelines to plan ahead all necessary bidding activities
  • Create and deliver handover plans from Origination to Development during preferred bidder stage
  • Create all necessary procedures and processes to support the CATO bidding activities

 
Experience, Work Experience and Qualifications:

  • Qualified to a Masters Degree level
  • Recognised programme management qualification
  • Minimum 5 years experience in managing complex programmes, preferably related to commercial bidding; managing scopes, programmes, budgets, risks, and business cases
  • Experience in planning and executing complex and multi-elemental bids
  • Proven track record of winning bids
  • Proven track record of producing high-quality deliverables
  • Experience leading a team of highly experienced individuals with diverse backgrounds and skillsets
  • Experience in managing advisers and JV partners
  • Understanding of establishing and governing consortia with investors, contractors, and others
  • Knowledge of electricity transmission sector desirable
