The Risk Manager’s role is to drive consistent application of the risk management framework across the business by providing advice, support, scrutiny and tools to maintain adequate risk management practices and culture. Main accountabilities include:
  • Assisting with the design (policies, procedures and guidelines) and embedding of the risk management framework within the business and instilling a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Driving identification and business ownership of strategic, operational, and emerging risks and related remediation/response plans.
  • Reviewing internal controls and supporting risk owners in the development of appropriate risk treatment plans to adequately and effectively respond to the risks.
  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge on regulatory changes and industry landscape for each operating location.
  • Partnering with the business to identify changes in their risk profiles associated with any change in their business strategy, new projects, external market factors and new/emerging legal and regulatory obligations.
  • Supporting an uplift in risk management capabilities and awareness via education and training to improve risk governance and facilitate risk informed decision making.
  • Providing key stakeholders with meaningful insights on the effectiveness of risk management activities and identifying improvement opportunities.
  • Leading in the preparation and presentation of quarterly reporting to the Executive Committee and Board Audit & Risk Committee.
  • Engaging and supervising external assurance providers, including agreement of scope, oversight, report finalisation and ensuring findings are reported to the Executive Committee and Board and remediated appropriately.
 
Required
  • Degree and/or relevant professional qualification.
  • Commercial experience in risk management, internal audit, or risk advisory consulting in complex business environment. Experience in the Construction or Energy sector is desirable.
  • Confident communicator who can simplify complexity, interact with clarity and impact through verbal and written communications.
  • Well organised, with ability to manage complex tasks with varying deadlines and shifting priorities. Comfortable with ambiguity and change, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and to engage with all levels of staff, including senior management and up to Board level.
  • Self-motivated and enthusiastic contributor to a collaborative, highly productive team. Ability to also work autonomously is essential.
  • Proficient stakeholder manager adept at influencing key decision makers and developing trusted relationships across various levels of the organisation.
  • Ability to develop constructive working relationship with business partners across European regions.
  • Critical thinker who considers current business needs to inform the way to prioritise tasks, focus efforts and deliver real value.
  • Ability to apply risk management concepts and understand leading enterprise risk management practices.
  • Knowledge of relevant ISO standards (e.g. 31000, 9001,45001) and other industry standards and regulations (e.g. Modern Slavery, Bribery, Data Privacy).
