Civil/Architectural Engineer
Greater London, South East, England Our client is looking for a Civil / Architectural Engineer (OSP) to join their team. Key ResponsibilitiesLead all engineering efforts for the design of civil, structural, building services, landscape, and architectural works necessary for the effective completion of a Land Substation.Coordinate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless integration of all design aspects.Liaise with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure clear communication and understanding of project requirements and progress.Assist Design Document process of all civil design concepts and philosophies (in-house & external), ensuring they align with employer’s requirements.Oversee & evaluate the final design and implementation, which will be undertaken as part of the Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) by the Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Installation (EPCI) contractor.Review on main EPC contract’s tender feedback (designs and specification etc.)Monitor and guide the EPCI contractor throughout the detailed design and implementation phases to ensure compliance with project specifications, codes and standards.Manage civil construction timelines, budgets, and resources effectively to ensure timely and cost-effective project completion.Address any concerns or queries from stakeholders promptly and effectively.Implement and maintain quality control procedures to ensure all designs meet the required standards and regulations regarding all civil/architectural scope.Conduct regular site inspections and audits to verify the quality and progress of construction works.Provide technical guidance and support to the project team, including resolving any civil design or construction issues that arise.Prepare detailed engineering reports, design documentation, and project status updates for stakeholders.Ensure all project documentation is accurate, up-to-date, and stored appropriately.Ensure all designs and construction activities comply with local, national, and international regulations and standards.Assist / Obtain that all necessary permits and approvals from relevant authorities.Promote sustainable design practices and ensure the project minimizes environmental impact.Implement and enforce health and safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment for all project personnel.Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes to enhance project efficiency and effectiveness.Conduct post-project reviews to capture lessons learned and apply them to future projects.Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices to incorporate innovative solutions into the project. Requirements Completed studies (diploma/master's degree) in Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or comparable courses of study.Several years of professional experience in the field of civil, structural, building services, landscape, and architectural works for (onshore) electrical substations and power cables.Ideally, knowledge/experience in project management (incl. planning, budgeting, and resource allocation.Experience with project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera) is a plus); experience in FIDIC based contracts.Strong understanding of UK building regulations, standards, and codes of practice.In-depth knowledge of UK construction laws, health and safety regulations, and environmental standards. Familiarity with the planning & permitting processes in the UKProficiency in engineering design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D, and other relevant tools is a plus.Comprehensive understanding of health and safety regulations and best practices.Experience in implementing and maintaining health and safety protocols on construction sites.Confident English language skills, both written and verbal.Good conflict resolution skills and problem-solving abilities.Ability to work in a team, with strong communication skills, assertiveness, and determination.Ability to work independently and pro-actively in a fast-paced project development environment and to meet tight project deadlines.Adaptability and Continuous Learning:Willingness to familiarise yourself with new tasks at short notice.Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with industry advancements.Participation in relevant training, workshops, and seminars.Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with a recognized institution such as the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) or the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA).Membership with relevant professional bodies (e.g., ICE, RIBA, Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE).
