JOB ID: #7064 Protection and Control Project Engineer Location: Scotland, Hybrid  Our client is looking for an experienced Protection & Control Project Engineer to provide technical support across their growing portfolio of projects.  Key Responsibilities:Assess and define the technical scope of protection and control requirements for new build substations and modifications to existing.Prepare outline scheme designs, key line diagrams, protection setting calculations, and setting files for relays, and support the implementation of IEC61850 solutions.Review third-party contractor/consultant detailed designs and witness FAT, as well as provide support for field teams to ensure the quality of installations.Evaluate tenders and procure/manage specialist services from consultants.Support multi-disciplinary project teams in identifying and managing engineering risks and identifying opportunities for the project to excel.   Qualifications Qualified to a minimum of HND level in Electrical Engineering.Demonstrable technical skills in Transmission protection and control specification and scheme design, as well as the skills to calculate protection settings for implementation.Confidence to technically assess engineering problems and critically assess a range of technical solutions.Good communication skills, with the ability to demonstrate diligence and prioritise tasks, as well as a thorough understanding of relevant legislation, including CDM and ESQCR, and the implications of this for Transmission network management.Ideally, candidates should be Chartered Engineers or working towards this.Ideally, experience with Protection & Control Engineering on UK projects.

These projects have a combined potential generating capacity of 5.9 gigawatts, sufficient to power the equivalent of around 6 million households – helping to achieve Scotland’s offshore wind generation target of 11GW and the UK’s 50GW target by 2030. Responsibilities Review, update and own the Project CDM Management Strategy and PlanCoordinate the implementation of the Construction Design and Management (CDM) activities in line with HSE CDM 2015 regulations & the CDM project strategy across the Project scope, to confirm and verify that CDM responsibilities are met by relevant duty holders in the project.Manage the project CDM documentation and tracker to record progress and confirm and verify duty holders maintain records in a timely manner.Work closely with the relevant team members to ensure CDM requirements are discharged in all relevant phases of the project.Support Work Package Managers (Contract Accountable Managers) to communicate CDM requirements to contractors and verify progress is recorded in project CDM tracker.Lead CDM training across the project and through its lifecycle to include but not limited to; inclusion in onboarding, specific training for those with key duties, training for key project stages and routine refresher training.
