Our client are looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to provide post contract commercial support for their ICP/Private Networks business, in line with strategy and budget. Provide leadership and direction within the business on commercial matters. Build strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Responsible for ensuring a rigorous and controlled environment is in place to effectively manage risk, cost and profitability across the portfolio of projects.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. Partnership – build strong working relationships with internal stakeholders including Operation Project Managers / Engineers, Legal, Procurement, Development Team, Finance and the Major Projects Team.
2. Reviewing upstream and downstream contracts, highlighting key business risks and negotiating improved terms.
3. Contract & Commercial Management for projects in the range of >£1m – £20m TCV. Lead and manage the commercial work stream and work closely with the Project Manager(s)
4. Project Review Board - Actively support the monthly review process and review overall commercial position for projects. Assist with management of problem projects highlighting trading risks to the management team. Ensure cost control is monitored across all projects and in accordance with accounting regulations and best practise.
5. Reporting – responsible for commercial reporting tools to manage risk and profitability effectively across the wider portfolio (as well as for individual larger projects).
6. Budgets & Forecasting– with the finance and operations teams, assist with the forecasting and budget process across the business.

What you need

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have;

1. Previous experience of successfully carrying out a Senior Quantity Surveying role on a HV infrastructure project £5m +
2. Strong working knowledge of NEC3 Option A contracts
3. Highly experienced in financial control of projects, including cost control and other processes.
4. Experience of dispute resolution processes.

QS needs to have excellent post contract experience (Claims and disputes).

We are particularly keen to prioritise candidates with demonstrable experience in preparing, managing and defending construction claims, ideally within NEC-based contracts or similar UK infrastructure frameworks. The successful candidate should be confident in building robust, evidence-based claims and responses, including the ability to articulate cause and effect, entitlement, and quantum using contemporaneous records. Experience of compensation events, variations, and dispute resolution processes (including adjudication support) will be highly beneficial. Candidates with formal or developing knowledge of construction law (e.g. LLM, MSc Construction Law, or equivalent practical experience) are strongly preferred, particularly those able to interpret contractual provisions, challenge positions, and support the business in protecting and recovering value.
