Project Accountant

We are working with a rapidly growing international offshore wind and renewable energy business with operations across the UK, Europe, North America, and Asia.

The business delivers specialist services across the offshore wind sector throughout the full project lifecycle and continues to invest in its people, systems, and finance capability to support significant international growth. As the organisation expands, it is strengthening its finance function to provide greater commercial insight and robust project financial management across its global operations.

The organisation is seeking an experienced Project Accountant to join its expanding Finance Team. This is a unique opportunity to establish and develop the project accounting framework that will support the business as it continues to scale internationally.

The Role
We are seeking a Project Accountant to lead project financial management, commercial reporting, and project accounting activities across an international portfolio of projects.

This is a highly commercial and operationally focused role, working closely with the Group Financial Controller, Project Managers, and Commercial Team.

The successful candidate will play a central role in developing project accounting processes, delivering financial insight, and supporting operational decision-making across multiple international projects.

Key Responsibilities

Project Financial Management

• Design and implement project financial reporting frameworks across the Group
• Develop project cost coding structures and financial reporting templates
• Produce monthly project profit and loss reports and financial performance analysis
• Manage work in progress (WIP) calculations and project revenue recognition
• Monitor project performance against budgets and forecasts, identifying financial risks and cost variances
• Support project close-out reviews and financial lessons learned
• Track subcontractor costs, purchase orders, and project expenditure across international projects

Business Partnering & Commercial Support

• Partner with Project Managers across multiple international locations to provide financial insight and commercial support
• Challenge project costs and support commercial decision-making throughout the project lifecycle
• Analyse scope changes and assess their financial impact on project performance
• Act as a trusted finance partner to operational and project delivery teams

Bid Support & Financial Analysis

• Support project pricing and tender submission activities
• Develop financial models to support commercial bids and project evaluations
• Review project margins and identify commercial risks before bid submission
• Improve estimating accuracy through post-project financial analysis and feedback

Process Improvement & Finance Development

• Develop and implement scalable project accounting processes and controls
• Improve financial systems, reporting capability, and project performance reporting
• Create standard reporting templates and management information packs
• Support the development of project accounting knowledge across the wider finance and operational teams

Experience and Background

Essential

• ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified
• Post-qualified experience within project accounting or project finance environments
• Experience within offshore wind, renewable energy, marine, construction, EPC, or other project-based industries
• Experience developing project reporting frameworks and financial processes
• Strong commercial awareness with the ability to influence operational decision-making
• Experience working across multiple projects, legal entities, or international operations
• Advanced Excel skills with strong analytical capability
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

Desirable

• Experience with earned value management (EVM), milestone revenue recognition, and work in progress (WIP) accounting
• Exposure to project management systems and financial reporting tools
• Experience supporting project pricing, tender submissions, and commercial modelling
• Background within high-growth or internationally expanding organisations
