Our client is seeking an experienced financial professional to steer all finance-related aspects of the company in alignment to support the company’s growth and Project Development activities.

The company operates as a special-purpose entity and a cost centre being financed through shareholder’s funds until start of construction when the company will raise project finance under the form of equity and senior debt. Revenue generation will only occur circa 10 years after the infrastructure being developed is built and is producing and selling electricity.

The role covers various activities that could fall under Financial Controller, or Treasurer in bigger corporate organisations, like:

• Review Corporate accounting prepared by accountants
• Review Regulatory and financial reporting prepared by accountants
• Budget and forecast preparation
• Development of internal control policies and procedures
• Financial risk management

Main Responsibilities:

• Managing all finance control between sponsor companies and client in collaboration with the accounting firm, managing all accounting operations

• Coordinating and directing the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances
• Review and publish timely quarterly financial statements issued by accountants

Further Duties and Responsibilities

• Ensure that the organisation meets the necessary tax requirements
• Provide management with accurate and comprehensive financial information
• Liaise with shareholder’s financial departments to provide or the required information
• Supervise and validate the preparation of timely tax filling by external third parties
• Supervise and validate the production of yearly financial statements under local and IFRS norms
• Perform financial control activities, including reconciliation between invoices and approved budget, and making sure that the approval process for payment is seamless
• Anticipating financial needs and available funds and calculating required drawdowns
• Review and analysis of monthly and quarterly numbers and disclosures
• Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances
• Summarize budget trends, analyse deficiencies, and report variances to executives
• Provide external auditors with the necessary documentation and support
• Direct the preparation of tax filling by external third parties
• Research technical accounting issues for compliance
• Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting
• Collaborate with the project management team in establishing more effective processes and controls to ensure the integrity of the company’s ledger
• Writing and presenting reports on the company’s financial information for the board of directors

Skills

• Proven working experience in an accounting or auditing firm
• 5+ years of overall combined accounting and finance experience
• A Degree in Finance is preferred
• A professional accountancy qualification is preferred
• Thorough knowledge of accounting principles, procedures, and tools, (excel is necessary)
• Experience with financial statements, general ledger and the month-end/year end close process
• Rigorous, autonomous, self-driven and problem solver, can work on a day to day under limited supervision being result oriented,
• Strong Interpersonal skills to manage interfaces within a small team working in ‘scale up’ mode
• Working experience in an international environment is a plus
