Key Responsibilities:
- Lead on aspects of the Development Consent Order (DCO) and Town and Country Planning Act (TCPA) processes for projects in various development stages.
- Identify and resolve project risks, collaborating with internal and external teams to ensure smooth project progression.
- Prepare, review, and submit consent application documents, ensuring compliance with environmental and planning legislation.
- Stay abreast of relevant laws and regulations, integrating consent requirements into project plans and schedules.
- Build and maintain relationships with statutory bodies, local authorities, and community stakeholders to facilitate efficient consenting processes.
- Mentor junior staff, ensuring high-quality delivery of consent-related activities.
Skills and Experience:
- In-depth understanding of national and local planning laws, environmental regulations, and permitting processes.
- Proven ability to manage multiple consent workstreams across different development stages.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Expertise in building relationships with regulators, local authorities, landowners, and community groups.
- Experience in public consultation and managing sensitive issues.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for preparing reports, applications, and presenting to stakeholders.
- Ability to navigate complex regulatory environments and resolve issues with stakeholders.
- Precision in preparing documentation and ensuring compliance with legal and environmental standards.
- Effective collaboration with internal colleagues and external consultants.
- Understanding of land rights, environmental impact assessments, and contractual obligations related to consents.
