Overview
We are representing a leading global infrastructure advisory firm as it continues to expand its M&A and Investment Advisory capability within Energy and Renewables. The firm is seeking a Director-level professional to play a leadership role within its Infrastructure Advisory practice, focused on partnerships, M&A, and strategic investment advisory across the energy transition landscape.

The team advises clients across the full transaction lifecycle, supporting buy-side and sell-side M&A, partnerships, and portfolio strategy for renewable generation, energy transition assets, and sustainable storage solutions. Assignments are typically short, high-impact engagements, delivering board-level insight to tier-one infrastructure investors, developers, asset managers, utilities, and financial institutions.

This is a senior, client-facing role offering the opportunity to shape a growing advisory platform, lead complex transactions, and drive the delivery of major energy transition and decarbonisation initiatives globally.

Job Purpose
The Director of Mergers, Acquisitions and Disposals (Energy & Renewables) will lead and deliver best-in-class M&A and investment advisory engagements across renewable energy and energy transition assets. The role combines transaction leadership, strategic advisory, and commercial judgement, with responsibility for client relationships, project outcomes, and team development.

In addition to delivery excellence, the Director will contribute to practice growth, including proposition development, market positioning, and mentoring of junior team members. The role goes well beyond traditional capex-led or technical advisory, requiring the ability to challenge assumptions, shape investment strategy, and support clients in decarbonising and transitioning to low-carbon energy systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead buy-side and sell-side M&A transactions, partnerships, and investment advisory engagements within the energy and renewables sector

  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior and board-level stakeholders, providing clear commercial and strategic insight

  • Take overall accountability for project delivery, quality, and client satisfaction across multiple concurrent engagements

  • Shape and drive investment strategy, transaction structuring, and value creation initiatives for energy transition assets

  • Provide strategic advice on decarbonisation pathways, low-carbon generation, and sustainable energy storage

  • Oversee and guide complex quantitative and qualitative analyses supporting investment and transaction decisions

  • Lead multi-disciplinary teams across technical, commercial, and strategic workstreams

  • Contribute to business development, including proposal leadership, client origination, and relationship management

  • Support the growth of the advisory platform through proposition development, knowledge sharing, and talent mentoring

  • Demonstrate flexibility in working patterns, recognising the cyclical and fast-paced nature of M&A activity

Candidate Profile

  • Significant experience delivering M&A, investment, or strategic advisory engagements within energy, renewables, or infrastructure

  • Proven track record advising on transactions, partnerships, or portfolio strategy for infrastructure or energy assets

  • Strong commercial judgement with the ability to simplify complex issues for senior decision-makers

  • Demonstrated capability operating at board and executive level

  • Experience leading teams and mentoring junior professionals

  • Excellent analytical skills, both quantitative and qualitative

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in English; additional European languages advantageous

  • Comfortable working in ambiguous, fast-moving environments across multiple asset classes

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline; postgraduate qualification advantageous

  • Willingness to travel internationally on an occasional basis
