Senior Designer Engineer
 
Location: UK


Our client is looking for a Senior Designer Engineer who will have overall responsibility for creating designs for new electrical infrastructure projects within the business unit. They must ensure that all designs meet client requirements, eliminate as much risk as possible (both environmental and safety), and that any remaining risks are clearly communicated to the Project Manager responsible for the works.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Implement the strategy, policies, processes, procedures and risk management for company-wide deployment within the technical team.
  • Lead Design Engineers and Graduate Engineers within the technical team and be accountable for scheme design, consultancy / feasibility studies, technical standards, regulatory affairs and associated legal processes.
  • Develop and maintain best relationships with clients, asset owners, partners and designers.
  • Actively seek improvements within the team in reducing timescales between contract award and scheme handover.
  • Assist with Business Development to secure new and repeat business via new and existing client relationships.
  • Ensure the company is compliant in all aspects of accreditation schemes held.
  • Adhere to the Company’s Code of Conduct, as revised from time to time.
  • Be proactive with ideas and suggestions.
  • Ensure that works are designed to minimise risks during the construction, operation, maintenance and decommissioning/demolition phases.
  • Ensure that all designs meet regulatory, statutory, client and industry requirements.
 
 
Requirements
  • Electrical Power Engineering Qualification is essential.
  • Must have completed an industry-recognised qualification (HNC/HND) and / or have experience designing OHL, Underground Cables or Substation infrastructure in the past 5 years.
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Relevant experience in the UK market within the last 5 years with a DNO, IDNO or ICP is essential.
  • Experience of leading a team would be beneficial.
