Project Development Manager - Onshore Wind/Solar PV/BESS
 
Location: Bulgaria
 
Our client is looking for a Renewable Energy Projects Development Manager, who will be responsible for overseeing the planning, development, and execution of wind and solar energy projects until the start of the construction in Bulgaria. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in driving forward our renewable energy initiatives, ensuring the successful implementation of projects from conception to completion.
 
Key Responsibilities

• Lead project development of in-house/JV PV, wind and hybrid projects.
• Originate and develop new Wind projects in the region.
• Manage co-development activities with potential partners/developers.
• Support potential new acquisitions.
• Support Chief Development Officer based in Vienna in managing the existing JV relationships day to day activities.
• Identify and assess potential sites for wind and solar energy projects in Bulgaria, considering factors such as land availability, resource potential, regulatory requirements, potential subsidies and environmental impact.
• Lead the development of renewable energy projects, including conducting feasibility studies, securing permits and approvals, negotiating land leases, running subsidy process and managing stakeholder relationships.
• Support M&A and central development functions by assessing new renewable energy projects.
• Develop project budgets and financial plans, ensuring alignment with company objectives and financial targets.
• With the support of the Corporate development team, conduct financial analysis to evaluate the economic viability of projects, including cost estimation, and return on investment analysis.
• Stay abreast of relevant regulations, policies, and incentives related to renewable energy development in Bulgaria.
• Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
• Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively to ensure on-time and within-budget project delivery.
• Coordinate with internal teams, external consultants, contractors, and suppliers to execute projects efficiently until start of the construction.
• Identify potential risks and uncertainties associated with development of the projects and implement strategies to mitigate them.
• Proactively address any challenges or obstacles that may arise during the course of project implementation until start of the construction.
• Prepare regular progress reports, presentations, and documentation for internal stakeholders and external partners.
• Maintain accurate records of project activities, expenditures, and outcomes.

 
 
 
 
 
 
Qualifications

• Proven experience in renewable energy project development, with a focus on wind and solar projects.
• Strong understanding of renewable energy technologies, market dynamics, and regulatory frameworks.
• Basic understanding of financial modelling and valuation.
• Basic technical understanding of wind and PV design.
• Excellent project management skills, with the ability to effectively prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
• Fluency in Bulgarian and English, both written and verbal.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive, results-oriented mindset.
• Willingness to travel as required.
