Senior Technical Manager - Europe

Our client’s ambitious growth plans also mean they are significantly expanding the asset management team to twelve people, with a focus on technical expertise. Their team is multidisciplinary, providing expertise across all offshore wind technology topics and involved in projects from first inception through to project operations, with every team member having a key role to play. They are a dynamic, innovative, and inclusive team that is partner focused. The team will have three Senior Technical Mangers, and each will have a geographical focus of either the Americas, Europe or APAC and the roles for both Europe and the APAC currently open. Scope Our client has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Technical Manager to work on global offshore wind projects that are in development, construction, and operations. You will work alongside our lead partners and may at times work directly in senior roles in the project team, on a range of development and construction projects across their global portfolio. You will interact closely with partner teams and guide the project(s) through the bid and or development phase to the Financial Investment Decision and ultimately into Commercial Operation at the end of construction. You will be responsible for developing strategies to optimize bids and project developments and for the identification of tactics to facilitate successful project execution. You will focus on technology development, contracting strategies, project cost, project management, project schedule, value engineering, risk management and optimization, stakeholder engagement. You will also work closely with partners commercial counterpart to structure agreements, ensure the accuracy of economic analysis and support recommendations for bid / development / FID approvals. Key Responsibilities Be a senior member of the technical team with oversight of the project(s), requiring collaboration with the other senior members of the project team. Be responsible for the development of bids to successful award, project development to Financial Investment Decision and project execution to Commercial Operation. Work closely with the lead commercial developer, to structure agreements, ensure the accuracy of economic analysis and support recommendations for bid / development / FID approvals. Manage and maintain relationships within the project and industry. Build and maintain a network of stakeholders and consultants / contractors at a senior level, that can support project delivery. Oversee partner development of and ultimately be responsible for the successful planning and development for specific projects and the successful implementation of those plans by partners. Work directly on project teams as required and fulfil the specified team role which may include managing a team / or reporting to the Project Director / Managing Director. Oversee day-to-day issues that arise on projects drawing on support from the client as required to take decisions, within authority limits, as situation/issue arise. Ensure that the client’s commercial and technical teams are kept up to date and engaged on key issues and provide full transparency on all project related matters. Responsible for the development of recommendations to senior management and shareholders with respect to project specific issues exceeding authorities. Liaison with the client’s team and provide reports to shareholders in respect of project progress. Essential Requirements You have an engineering degree or equivalent with strong technical and commercial understanding of offshore wind projects and technology. You are an expert in stakeholder and team management with strong project management skills based on strategic thinking. You have more than five years’ direct experience of working in offshore wind project teams for development, construction and/or operations. You have excellent communication and interpersonal relations skills. You can take initiative, be self-starting and make rational decisions, even when under pressure and be results-oriented. You have the ability to absorb and process often complex and potentially conflicting information and conduct critical decision making in respect of key issues. You are fluent in English language with other European languages as an advantage. Desirable Skills Project management qualification Health and Safety management training International work experience is an advantage.
