Offshore Lead Cables Electrical Engineer

Our client is looking for an Offshore Lead Cables Electrical Engineer to support the delivery of a major renewable energy project. The successful candidate will be an experienced submarine cables Electrical/Design Engineer responsible for managing the cables package for both the offshore export cable and inter-array cabling system.

Key Responsibilities

• Review contractor cable electrical system designs against the Employer's Requirements.
• Coordinate all aspects of the tendering phase associated with the electrical cable system design.
• Work with other package teams to ensure efficient management of cables inputs and outputs.
• Prepare technical documentation and specifications for internal or contractor's use.
• Participate in meetings with contractor representatives to ensure compliance with Employer's Requirements.
• Collaborate closely with Substation and Grid Electrical Designers to ensure alignment with the wind farm electrical system design.
• Review offshore site investigation data and provide design input to our client's team.
• Review and comment on detailed costing of materials and technical services provided by contractors.
• Perform technical reviews of reports and design studies supplied by contractors and third parties.
• Support Package Managers in executing relevant contracts and prepare formal reports for engineering design decisions.
• Participate in meetings throughout the project execution phase to ensure compliance with the contract.
• Lead audits of contractor's cable manufacturing facilities and participate in technical meetings across multiple packages.
• Contribute to the delivery of a safer wind farm that minimises the cost of energy over the project's life.
• Integrate HSE and environmental requirements into the cable delivery strategy.
• Input into a risk register, HSE assessments, and engineering decision log for the cables.
• Support value management and project optimisation processes within the electrical package team.

About You

• Minimum of 10 years’ relevant experience in cable electrical system design and submarine cable systems.
• Experience in technical and commercial evaluation of submarine cable systems.
• Proficient in SHEQ standards for terrestrial and offshore projects.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Experience in managing and delivering complex projects.
• Good decision-making capability and judgement.
• Level 8 engineering qualification or equivalent work experience is required.
