Electrical Engineer

Our client is looking for an Electrical Engineer to play a key role in optimising grid connections and supporting the delivery of renewable energy projects, with a focus on design, technical efficiencies and emerging energy technologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Optimise grid connections for renewable energy projects.
• Support the design and implementation of electrical systems.
• Conduct power system studies and manage grid connection delivery.
• Liaise with grid operators and review DNO and ICP system designs.
• Identify cost savings and technical efficiencies in grid connection agreements.
• Undertake design reviews and challenge designers and contractors on best practices.
• Ensure compliance with commissioning and testing requirements.
• Manage tender processes for appointing ICPs and electrical study contractors.
• Utilise technical software such as AutoCAD, Trimble, and DIgSILENT.
• Implement quality assurance processes and manage project stakeholders.
• Anticipate project issues and propose creative solutions.
• Maintain strong organisational skills to manage multiple tasks effectively.

About You

• Degree-level engineering qualification, preferably in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 3 years' experience in the renewable energy industry.
• Experience in electrical design, power system studies, and grid connections for wind, solar PV or battery storage projects.
• Understanding of UK grid system operators and energy markets.
• Experience liaising with grid operators and managing grid connection delivery.
• Ability to review designs and identify efficiencies.
• Awareness of construction health, safety and environmental legislation, particularly CDM.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to prioritise workloads.
• Understanding of quality assurance processes.
