Our client is looking for an experienced Project Manager to lead the successful delivery of electrical infrastructure and substation projects from design through to completion. The role will involve managing project teams, overseeing site activity, coordinating design delivery and ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time and within budget. The successful candidate will work closely with internal teams, contractors and stakeholders to ensure high quality project execution while maintaining compliance with industry standards and client requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate project teams to ensure the successful delivery of projects in line with programme, budget and quality requirements
- Develop and manage project plans, overseeing site operations and coordinating subcontractors and site teams
- Manage project budgets, cost tracking, change control and project level risk management
- Implement and maintain project safety, quality and risk processes, ensuring compliance with HSE requirements and reporting incidents or issues where required
- Support the review and development of engineering designs based on tender and project information, including substation layouts, cable routing, earthing and electrical installation drawings
- Contribute to safety by design and participate in hazard review meetings and site surveys
- Ensure project deliverables meet agreed Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), project timelines, employer requirements and relevant industry standards
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
- HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering or equivalent as a minimum. BSc or BEng is desirable
- IEng or CEng chartership status is desirable
- Experience working with CAD tools and within BIM environments is beneficial
- Minimum 5 years experience delivering substation or electrical infrastructure projects
- 8+ years for Senior Project Manager level
- 12+ years for Principal level roles
- Strong understanding of HSE legislation and project safety management
- Knowledge of electrical engineering standards and regulations
- Understanding of key electrical infrastructure components including transformers, switchgear, batteries, cabling, earthing and lighting systems
