Project Engineer
Our Client is seeking a dedicated Project Engineer to join the Engineering business unit, focusing on Overhead Lines projects. This role is integral to ensuring the safe, efficient, and productive delivery of these projects. The successful candidate will work closely with Design Engineers and other team members, fostering a collaborative environment that meets client and stakeholder requirements while keeping employees motivated and engaged.
The Project Engineer will play a crucial role in coordinating design activities, managing resources, and ensuring compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental procedures. This position requires a professional who can effectively represent the company in various project situations, including client meetings and tendering processes. The role also involves providing technical support and continuously seeking improvements in work package delivery.
Key Responsibilities
• Represent the company professionally in diverse project situations with internal and external stakeholders.
• Assist in managing compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental procedures, policies, and legislation.
• Coordinate design activities, resources, materials, and equipment.
• Act as a point of contact for design engineers and communicate with clients to ensure daily productivity targets are met.
• Assist with programme development and resource planning.
• Represent the company at client meetings.
• Support the tendering process, working closely with the Project Manager, Regional Managers, and Head of Transmission.
• Assist with site and client interfaces.
• Collaborate with Design Engineers and the Transmission Commercial team to manage project costs and income.
• Provide technical support to the engineering team, seeking continuous improvement in work package delivery.
• Maintain positive relationships with client personnel to ensure full cooperation on projects.
• Travel as required to support business needs.
• Develop reports for the Engineering team.
Qualifications
• Relevant degree in Engineering or a related field.
• Previous experience in people management.
• Strong commercial awareness with the ability to monitor and report performance against targets.
• Sound knowledge of electrical infrastructure, safety rules, and legislation.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant computer packages.
• Experience working within contract terms and conditions.
• Understanding of power networks.
