Overhead Line Project Engineer

This role will sit within our clients' Transmission's Project Engineering team with a primary focus on AC Overhead Lines systems and specific experience with transmission networks would be desirable. We encourage candidates with a project engineering background, ideally with experience in 132kV and above voltage overhead line engineering, in either contractor, consultancy, or client organisations within the Energy Industry to apply.

You will:
- Provide overhead line engineering support for 400kV, 275kV and 132kV projects across the full project life cycle, working as part of a multidiscipline project engineering team.
- Review contractor/consultant design proposals, ensuring compliance with relevant design specification and guidance.
- Take on a Project Engineering role, ensuring engineering governance is followed, co-ordination with all Engineering Disciplines and support/assist others in the project team around managing engineering risks and utilising opportunities for the project to excel.
- Act as the point of contact for overhead line engineering and represent engineering at key strategic, commercial, programme and site project meetings.
- Promote and manage safety within the assigned projects through the implementation of CDM procedures and practices, ensuring the project engineering is compliant with company, HSE and industry regulations.
- Work closely with Engineering Managers and Project Managers to ensure that Engineering and Quality risks are identified and mitigated.

You have:
- Strong technical skills in overhead line development, design, and specification—or demonstrable transferable experience.
- Familiarity with overhead line design software (e.g. PLS-CADD) is advantageous but not essential.
- A technical degree or HND, with relevant experience in the field.
- A proactive, problem-solving mindset with the ability to explore design options and apply evidence-based decision-making.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise and deliver information effectively across all levels.
