The organisation is seeking to appoint a Financial Controller to support financial control, reporting, and project cost management across its offshore and subsea operations.

The Role
We are seeking a Financial Controller to take ownership of financial reporting integrity, cost control, and financial governance across a highly operational, project-driven environment.
This is a hands-on leadership role within the finance function, working closely with operational, project, and senior leadership stakeholders to ensure robust financial discipline, accurate reporting, and strong control across active marine projects.
The successful candidate will play a key role in strengthening financial processes, supporting business decision-making, and ensuring consistency across reporting, forecasting, and control frameworks environment.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Control
  • Support monthly and quarterly financial reporting processes
  • Manage month-end close activities including journals, accruals, and reconciliations
  • Maintain and enhance financial controls and reporting frameworks
  • Ensure adherence to internal policies and accounting standards
  • Support audit preparation and compliance requirements

Project Accounting & Cost Management
  • Oversee project cost tracking, forecasting, and variance analysis
  • Monitor operational spend across offshore and subsea projects
  • Ensure accurate allocation of costs across projects and contracts
  • Work closely with project and operations teams to ensure financial accuracy and control
  • Support budgeting and forecasting cycles

Cash Flow & Financial Operations
  • Assist with cash flow monitoring and working capital reporting
  • Support financial planning activities across operational and project environments
  • Identify and implement improvements across reporting, controls, and systems

Process Improvement & Governance
  • Identify and deliver improvements across financial processes and controls
  • Strengthen reporting consistency and financial governance frameworks
  • Support continuous improvement within a fast-paced operational environment

Experience and Background

Essential
  • CPA qualified or equivalent professional accounting qualification
  • 5+ years’ experience in accounting or financial control roles
  • Strong month-end, reporting, and reconciliation experience
  • Solid understanding of budgeting and forecasting processes
  • Advanced Excel capability
  • Strong analytical skills and high attention to detail
  • Experience working in fast-paced operational environments
  • Ability to work full-time onsite in Vancouver

Desirable:
  • Experience within offshore, subsea, marine, oil & gas, or engineering sectors
  • Exposure to project-based accounting or operational finance environments
  • Experience in multi-site, contract-based, or asset-heavy businesses
  • ERP system experience
  • Background in technical, engineering, or high-growth organisations
