Head of HSE

On behalf of our client, we looking for an experienced Head of HSE to join their team in Bristol, UK. As the Head of HSE, you will manage HSE across the development, execution, construction, and operations of the green hydrogen projects. You’ll be responsible for the HSE discipline, including developing and implementing procedures, tools, organisation, and workflows to ensure the highest possible level of health safety and environmental control.You’ll be working closely across the whole organisation to secure successful project delivery and safe operations. Furthermore, you’ll be leading and working closely with the authorities in relation to the safety and environmental permitting process. Responsibilities Lead the authority permitting process related to environment and safety for the business. Liaising with authorities Manage all HSE reporting and set up the full HSE training program Take an active part in public meetings to address any HSE-related topics Further develop the safety concept of the plant; ensure that safety is optimally included in the plant design Ensure that all relevant requirements for safety and environment are followed and included in all aspects of the project (incl. detail design, construction, commissioning, startup, and into operations) Keeping up to date and ensuring compliance with current health and safety legislation Review contractors’ safety competencies, qualifications, and documents, as part of the selection process Establish site safety plans before the commencement of site works. This is in close collaboration with local organizations, contractors, and authorities When construction work starts, actively ensure that site safety is kept at its highest level  Ensuring that all equipment installations are done safely Undertaking risk assessments and identifying potential hazards Desired Expertise & Skills Proven experience as an HSE Manager with broad safety and environmental management experience from energy infrastructure projects Experienced in working with safety and environment regulatory permitting processes Proven track record of working with regulatory authorities Strong leadership and organisational skills Familiar with safety and environmental requirements related to the construction, commissioning, and operations of large industrial plants Excellent communication and people skills Excellent understanding of HSE legislation in UK and knowledge of Denmark and German regulation preferable Fluent in English, Danish and German language skills desirable but not essential
