Principal Assurance Engineer - Cables

As a Principal Assurance Engineer - Cables, you'll have a critical role ensuring that our operational interconnectors maintain the highest level of operational performance as well as ensuring that all our new interconnectors are developed, designed, constructed and commissioned in accordance with our standards and specifications.In this role you can enjoy our hybrid working from office and home. You'll be flexible to travelling to our Warwick office and UK Interconnector sites, with occasional European travel as required. Key accountabilities Responsible for the design assurance of HVDC interconnector cable systems during project feasibility, optioneering, development, design, tender, delivery, and commissioning phases of a new HVDC interconnector. Support the development of new interconnector projects with AC and DC cable system design expertise. Ensure that the highest level of standards are maintained in respect of Health, Safety and Environmental issues. Act as the technical / engineering design interface with cable suppliers and installation contractors during the delivery phase of a project to ensure design, manufacture, testing and construction activities are in accordance with the technical specifications and Contract. Ensure that safety by design principles are embedded in Suppliers’ and Contractors’ design solutions, and that the cable system is safe to operate and maintain. In this case, we’re looking for someone who has: Significant experience and knowledge of HV cable systems including both onshore & offshore cables and associated infrastructure. Project delivery experience on a full range of complex, multi-interface projects. Excellent stakeholder management, influence and engagement skills. The ability to assist with the commissioning of HV cable assets to recognised standards and procedures. What You'll Get A competitive salary between £58,000 to £74,000 – dependent on capability. Our client are currently seeking a Project Manager with experience in EPC substation. In this role, you will be responsible for managing project operations and ensuring timely delivery, safety, and financial performance. Key Responsibilities Ensure high safety standards for safe and timely project delivery, site mobilisation, and meeting critical project milestones. Serve as the primary point of contact for tender preparation, providing essential support and guidance throughout the process. Lead project planning and execution to ensure timely and successful delivery. Track progress to ensure timely project delivery and resolve any delays promptly. Ensure adherence to project key milestones and deadlines. Oversee and actively engage with the engineering process to ensure alignment with project objectives. Track and coordinate the procurement process to maintain timely delivery of materials and services. Oversee the project procurement to ensure timely delivery of materials and services aligned with project schedules. Facilitate effective integration and communication between suppliers, engineering teams, site personnel, and clients. Maintain a strong presence on-site during the construction phase, through commissioning, and up to energisation, ensuring all activities meet quality and safety standards. Experience in managing budget and cost control, with a track record of delivering projects on time and within budget. Strong knowledge of Engineering procurement and construction processes and the ability to manage Engineering, material and site work delivery schedules Health, safety, and environmental management, particularly with respect to CDM regulations and site safety. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience leading cross-functional teams and engaging with clients and suppliers.
