Our client is looking for a SHEQ Manager to provide strategic leadership, governance, and expert advice on all Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality (SHEQ) matters across a major renewable energy project in the central belt of Scotland.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the company's competent person for health and safety across all distribution network and civil works.
- Deliver expert guidance on CDM 2015 Regulations, managing both Client and Principal Contractor duties.
- Oversee and mentor a team of regional SHEQ Advisors, ensuring accountability for day-to-day site compliance.
- Oversee and approve site documentation, including Risk Assessments, Method Statements (RAMS), and Construction Phase Plans.
- Monitor project delivery against strict engineering specifications and quality standards.
- Manage Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) alongside technical quality documentation.
- Drive environmental protection initiatives, focusing on waste management, pollution prevention, and habitat protection around assets.
- Maintain and manage core company accreditations (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, NERS, Achilles, and RoSPA).
- Lead detailed root cause analysis investigations for incidents, near-misses, and non-conformances.
- Ensure total compliance with statutory reporting frameworks, including RIDDOR requirements.
- Develop, track, and present SHEQ KPIs, safety trends, and data insights directly to executive leadership.
- Act as the primary point of contact for external clients regarding safety performance and project metrics.
- Represent the organization during external regulatory audits, client forums, and industry safety panels.
About You
- 10+ years of dedicated SHEQ experience within civil engineering, utilities, or heavy infrastructure.
- NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent degree in Occupational Health and Safety).
- Direct experience operating around live substations, overhead lines, and underground cabling works (up to 66kv and above).
- Deep technical understanding of CDM 2015 Regulations and UK safety legislation.
- Full UK Driving Licence with a willingness to travel nationwide to various construction networks.
- Chartered Membership of IOSH (CMIOSH) or actively working toward it (desirable).
- Certified ISO Lead Auditor (9001, 14001, 45001) (desirable).
- IEMA Environmental Certificate or equivalent qualification (desirable).
