Our client is looking for a Project Mechanical Engineer Building Services to support the delivery of a major renewable energy project. This role involves working on high-profile, technically complex projects within the Electricity Transmission network in Scotland, including the development of new buildings and upgrades to existing substations.
Key Responsibilities
- Define the engineering basis of design and scope for assigned projects, validating and verifying engineering design, construction, and installation.
- Provide mechanical engineering support across multiple projects, creating outline designs and scope during project development.
- Lead on Mechanical services and multi-disciplinary projects as required.
- Develop scope of works and detailed specifications, ensuring quality installations through site team support.
- Evaluate tenders, procure, and manage specialist services.
- Engage with contractors to ensure compliance with specifications and improve workmanship.
- Support project design teams in delivering a portfolio of building projects, including office spaces and critical national infrastructure.
- Contribute to building services initiatives such as standardisation and modular building design development.
- Lead internal and external multi-disciplinary design teams when necessary.
About You
- Proven project design experience in mechanical building services.
- Experience in a utility or operational environment as a mechanical Building Services Project Engineer.
- Sound technical knowledge of industry standards and specifications, with an understanding of CDM Regulations.
- Ability to communicate complex technical issues clearly and facilitate decision-making by senior management.
- Experience in designing and commissioning a diverse range of mechanical building systems, with proficiency in IES for thermal, energy, and compliance modelling.
- Demonstrable experience using digital platforms (such as BIM, Revit, and other design packages) throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ability to liaise and coordinate project activities with stakeholders, including internal teams, design consultants, and contractors.
- Experience aligning project deliverables with assurance processes, specifications, codes of practice, and relevant statutory documentation.
- Preferably hold or be working towards Chartered Engineer status, with membership of CIBSE or a relevant professional body being advantageous.
