Our client is looking for an Onshore Wind Procurement Manager to lead sourcing and procurement activities for utility-scale onshore wind projects in Japan. This role will play a key part in supporting project development and execution, driving procurement strategies, managing supplier relationships, and leading commercial negotiations throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute procurement strategies for utility-scale onshore wind projects.
- Lead sourcing activities for wind turbines, balance of plant (BoP), and related services.
- Support wind turbine selection, technical evaluations, and project due diligence.
- Manage the full tendering process, including RFQ/RFP preparation, supplier prequalification, bid evaluation, and commercial assessment.
- Lead commercial negotiations and contract execution with OEMs, EPC contractors, and key suppliers.
- Manage and administer major project agreements, including EPC-related contracts, logistics agreements, and long-term service arrangements.
- Collaborate closely with Development, Engineering, EPC, Legal, Finance, and Project Management teams to ensure procurement activities align with project milestones.
- Support financing processes by providing procurement inputs for lender and technical due diligence.
- Establish procurement strategies and O&M supply arrangements prior to project handover.
- Identify procurement risks and implement mitigation strategies to ensure project success.
- Ensure confidentiality and compliance through appropriate NDA execution and supplier governance.
About You
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, or a related discipline (Master's degree preferred).
- Minimum 5 years of procurement experience within the renewable energy sector, with direct experience in onshore wind projects.
- Mandatory experience managing procurement and tendering processes for onshore wind developments or EPC projects.
- Strong track record of supplier sourcing, strategic procurement, and vendor management.
- Demonstrated experience negotiating complex commercial contracts with OEMs, EPC contractors, and key suppliers.
- Solid understanding of project procurement, cost optimization, and contract administration.
- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and projects in a dynamic environment.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Business-level English is required. Japanese is highly preferred, while Chinese language skills would be considered an advantage.
