The business develops, acquires, and manages renewable energy assets and associated infrastructure, with a strong focus on long-term growth, commercial performance, and operational excellence across its European operations.
The organisation is seeking to strengthen its European legal function through the appointment of a Legal Counsel to support its German business activities. This role will work closely with the European Head of Legal and wider commercial teams, supporting a broad range of legal, regulatory, transactional, and operational matters across the German market.
Role Overview
We are seeking a German-qualified Legal Counsel to provide commercially focused legal support across a diverse renewable energy and infrastructure portfolio.
This is a broad in-house legal role with exposure across project development, acquisitions, commercial contracting, regulatory matters, and corporate legal support.
The successful candidate will act as a key legal partner to the business, working closely with internal stakeholders and external advisors to support strategic growth initiatives and day-to-day operations.

Key Responsibilities
Commercial & Operational Legal Support
- Provide legal advice across commercial, operational, and project-related activities
- Draft, review, and negotiate a range of agreements including real estate, permitting, construction, and service contracts
- Support internal stakeholders on day-to-day legal and contractual matters
- Assist with dispute management, NDAs, and general corporate legal matters
Transactions & Project Support
- Support project acquisitions, partnerships, and development transactions across the German market
- Advise on contractual structures and transaction strategy
- Coordinate legal due diligence processes alongside internal and external stakeholders
- Lead contract drafting, negotiation, and transaction execution activities
Regulatory & Compliance
- Monitor relevant legal and regulatory developments impacting the business
- Support compliance across commercial and energy trading activities
- Assist in ensuring alignment with applicable financial reporting and regulatory requirements
Stakeholder & External Counsel Management
- Work closely with the European legal team and commercial leadership on ongoing projects and priorities
- Manage relationships with external legal counsel and support oversight of legal spend within Germany
- Maintain effective communication and reporting lines with senior internal stakeholders
Experience and Background
Essential
- German qualified lawyer (Volljurist)
- Minimum 5 years’ PQE gained in-house or within a leading commercial law firm
- Strong experience drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements
- Fluent German and English language skills, both written and spoken
- Strong organisational and stakeholder management capability
Desirable
- Experience within renewable energy, energy, infrastructure, real estate, or regulated sectors
- Exposure to project acquisitions, development transactions, or construction-related matters
- Experience managing external counsel and cross-border legal matters

- Commercially minded with a pragmatic and solutions-focused approach
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Comfortable operating autonomously while collaborating across international teams
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail
