Investment Analyst / Associate - Energy Transition

The organisation is seeking an Investment Analyst / Associate to join its Energy Transition investment team. This role will support the continued growth of its international battery energy storage system (BESS) and wider energy transition investment strategy through financial modelling, investment underwriting, market analysis, and transaction execution.
The Role
We are seeking an Investment Analyst / Associate to support the evaluation, execution, and management of energy transition investments, with a particular focus on battery storage and renewable infrastructure opportunities.
This is a highly analytical and execution-focused investment role, working closely with the fund management team and transaction deal teams.
The successful candidate will play a key role in building investment models, assessing new opportunities, supporting due diligence processes, and contributing to investment recommendations across a growing international portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
Investment Modelling & Underwriting
- Build, maintain, and enhance complex financial models for battery energy storage and energy transition investments
- Develop acquisition models, fund-level operating models, and investment cases to support decision-making
- Run detailed sensitivities and scenario analysis across revenue, capex, financing, and operational assumptions
- Support investment underwriting through robust quantitative and qualitative analysi
- Assess investment opportunities and provide commercial insights to support recommendations
Transaction Execution & Due Diligence
- Support and take ownership across transaction processes from initial evaluation through to completion
- Lead financial analysis and support commercial and financial due diligence processes
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external advisors across transaction workstreams
- Support preparation of Investment Committee memoranda, investment papers, and investor materials
- Contribute to deal execution activities across asset-backed investment opportunities
Portfolio & Market Analysis
- Conduct market research and analysis across international BESS and energy transition markets
- Monitor portfolio assets through operational reporting and financial model updates
- Support ongoing portfolio management and investment performance analysis
- Identify market trends, risks, and opportunities to support investment strategy
Experience and Background
Essential
- 3–5 years’ relevant experience within investment, infrastructure, energy, project finance, investment banking, private equity, or advisory environments
- Strong financial modelling capability, with modelling representing a significant component of previous roles
- Experience across both debt and equity investment processes
- Demonstrated transaction execution experience with ownership of investment processes
- Strong commercial and financial due diligence experience
- Background within asset-backed investments or infrastructure-related investments
- Exceptional Excel and financial modelling capabilities
- Strong analytical mindset with excellent attention to detail
- Ability to manage internal and external stakeholders effectively
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Desirable:
- Experience within battery energy storage systems (BESS) strongly preferred
- Transferable experience across energy transition, renewable energy, or infrastructure sectors considered
- Experience within fund management, investment management, or principal investment environments
- Advisory candidates considered where they have demonstrated genuine ownership of transactions and exposure to asset-focused investments
- CFA qualification completed or currently in progress
Technical Requirements
- Exceptional financial modelling skills with the ability to build and maintain complex investment models
- Ability to independently manage transaction processes from inception through to completion
- Strong understanding of investment structures, financing considerations, and asset-level economics
- High level of technical competence combined with strong commercial judgement
- Ability to translate financial analysis into clear investment recommendations
