Job Overview

As an HV/LV Cable Jointer, you will play a crucial role in the installation, jointing, termination, testing, maintenance, and repair of underground electrical distribution networks. This position involves working on a diverse range of projects, including those for Distribution Network Operators (DNOs), Independent Distribution Network Operators (IDNOs), renewable energy developments, commercial infrastructure, and private networks. You will be part of a dynamic team committed to ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in line with industry standards. This role is integral to the company's mission of delivering turnkey HV and LV network projects across England, Scotland, and Wales, including networks up to 132kV.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, joint, terminate, and commission LV and HV underground cables.
• Carry out straight joints, branch joints, pot ends, and terminations on XLPE, PILC, and EPR cable systems.
• Perform cable testing, fault location, identification, and repairs.
• Install and terminate cables within substations, feeder pillars, switchgear, transformers, and RMUs.
• Complete new electrical connections, diversions, service alterations, and network upgrades.
• Read and interpret electrical drawings, cable schedules, and DNO specifications.
• Ensure compliance with Electricity at Work Regulations, DNO/IDNO procedures, and Health & Safety legislation.
• Complete risk assessments, point-of-work briefs, QA documentation, and commissioning records.
• Work alongside SAPs, Project Engineers, Site Supervisors, and Civils teams to deliver projects safely and on schedule.
• Participate in standby and emergency fault response when required.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as an HV/LV Cable Jointer.
• SSE AUTHORISTATION
• Experience working on underground electricity distribution networks.
• Competent in LV cable jointing and terminations.
• Experience with HV jointing (typically up to 11kV; higher-voltage experience is advantageous).
• Good understanding of DNO/IDNO standards and safe systems of work.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to travel and work nationwide.
