HSE-Manager

Our client is looking for an HSE Manager to support the delivery of a major renewable energy project in Brunsbüttel, Schleswig-Holstein. This role involves overseeing health, safety, and environmental matters on-site, ensuring compliance with German regulations, and actively engaging in site activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Own HSE on the infrastructure corridor, conducting daily documented site walkdowns and defect tracking, with the authority to stop work in case of acute danger.
• Write, update, and review risk assessments, operating instructions, and work permits for various activities.
• Deliver site inductions, recurring instruction, and toolbox talks, ensuring proper documentation.
• Monitor compliance across all trades and subcontractors with relevant German HSE regulations.
• Maintain the legal register and keep the site updated as regulations change.
• Handle notification duties, including accident reports and environmental incidents.
• Oversee the environmental scope, including waste management and emissions control.
• Own the emergency and fire protection plan, including escape route planning and evacuation drills.
• Report HSE KPIs and LTIFR to project management and attend construction and safety meetings.

About You

• Several years of HSE experience on industrial and commercial construction sites, particularly in large infrastructure or energy projects.
• Confident command of the German HSE legal framework and hands-on experience with risk assessments and incident reporting.
• Fluent in English (C1 level) with the ability to communicate effectively in an international project environment.
• Proficient in Microsoft 365, especially Excel, and willing to obtain SCC certification for site access.
• Available to be on-site in Brunsbüttel a minimum of 3–4 days per week, with a preference for 5 days.
• Possess a valid driving licence and the right to work in Germany.
