We are seeking an experienced Electrical Operations & Asset Manager to join a leading offshore wind development team in South Korea. This is a unique opportunity for a high-voltage (HV) engineering professional with strong commissioning expertise to play a critical role in delivering one of the region’s most significant offshore wind projects.

The successful candidate will initially lead the energization, testing, and commissioning of offshore wind electrical infrastructure before transitioning into a broader asset integrity leadership role supporting operational offshore wind assets across the Asia-Pacific region.

This position offers exposure to the full offshore wind electrical value chain, including offshore substations, export cable systems, onshore substations, grid connection interfaces, and wind turbine electrical systems.

Key Responsibilities

HV Commissioning Leadership

  • Develop and execute the overall HV commissioning strategy and commissioning master plan.
  • Lead commissioning activities across offshore and onshore electrical systems, including:
    • Offshore and onshore substations
    • HV and MV switchgear
    • Power transformers
    • Export and inter-array cable systems
    • Reactive power compensation systems
    • Grid connection facilities
  • Manage energization programs, testing activities, and system integration activities through to commercial operation.

Grid Connection & Regulatory Interface

  • Serve as the primary technical interface with utility companies, grid operators, and regulatory authorities.
  • Coordinate grid compliance testing, synchronization activities, and commissioning approvals.
  • Ensure compliance with local electrical regulations, safety standards, and grid code requirements.

Asset Integrity & Operational Readiness

  • Establish and manage High Voltage Safe Systems of Work (SSoW).
  • Support the transition from construction and commissioning into long-term operations.
  • Develop operational procedures, maintenance standards, and asset integrity frameworks for HV equipment.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives and lessons-learned programs across the portfolio.

Contractor & Vendor Management

  • Review and approve contractor commissioning procedures and testing programs.
  • Coordinate OEMs, EPC contractors, consultants, and specialist commissioning providers.
  • Manage commissioning-related punch-list closure and final handover activities.

Health, Safety & Quality

  • Promote a strong safety culture in high-voltage and offshore working environments.
  • Lead permit-to-work, lock-out/tag-out, switching, and energization activities.
  • Participate in risk assessments, safety reviews, and commissioning readiness evaluations.
  • Ensure all commissioning documentation meets project, lender, and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree or above in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Master’s Degree is advantageous.

Experience

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in HV electrical engineering.
  • At least 4 years of dedicated commissioning experience on large-scale power infrastructure projects.
  • Hands-on experience commissioning offshore wind farms, including:
    • Offshore substations
    • Export cable systems
    • Onshore grid connection substations
  • Proven experience with HV cable energization, transformer commissioning, and protection system testing.
  • Experience working directly with utilities, regulators, and grid operators.

Technical Expertise

Strong knowledge of:

  • HV transmission and distribution systems
  • GIS and AIS switchgear
  • Power transformers
  • Protection and control systems
  • SCADA systems
  • Reactive power compensation equipment
  • HV cable systems (submarine and onshore)
  • Grid compliance testing and power system integration

Knowledge of IEC standards and international HV commissioning practices is highly desirable.

Certifications

  • Electrical Engineering Professional License, Chartered Engineer, Professional Engineer, or equivalent.
  • HV switching and safety authorization certification.
  • GWO Basic Safety Training and offshore survival certifications are advantageous.

Languages

  • Native or fluent Korean language proficiency.
  • Professional working proficiency in English.
