An esteemed client is seeking an experienced Project Planner with a deep understanding of the sequencing, risks, and logistics involved in electrical infrastructure builds, particularly substations ranging from 110kV to 400kV. The role is pivotal in ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within scope, and with a comprehensive awareness of potential risks. The successful candidate will join a dynamic team environment, working closely with project managers, commercial teams, and main contractors to develop and maintain detailed project schedules.

The Project Planner will play a crucial role in the business by supporting client schedule negotiations, developing construction schedules, and providing critical insights into project progress and efficiency. This position requires a high level of collaboration and communication to ensure all stakeholders are aligned and informed throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Review contract documentation and highlight key schedule and tracking requirements.
• Develop construction schedules based on high-level target schedules and Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) received from the project manager.
• Support client schedule negotiations.
• Labour and metrics load the schedule based on hours and quantities received from the commercial team.
• Develop required trackers and reporting templates.
• Develop fully integrated construction schedules in conjunction with the main contractor and project manager.
• Measure and track weekly progress and efficiency in consultation with the site team and validate this formally with the commercial team every 2-3 weeks.
• Highlight potential risks and roadblocks to the project team and lead planner on an ongoing basis.
• Serve as the point of contact for the project manager for all project-related planning issues.
• Develop schedules and histograms for bid support as required by the lead planner.

Qualifications

• 3rd level qualification in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a strong trades background coupled with technical ability.
• Ideally, 3-5 years of experience in developing and implementing plans, monitoring, and controlling work.
• Proven capability in producing project plans from design and commercial information.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Project, P6 or equivalent planning software, and Microsoft Office tools.
• Excellent report writing skills.
• Strong time management skills to meet the demands of a busy schedule and reporting calendar.
