We are seeking a commercially astute Managing Quantity Surveyor to lead the commercial delivery of a high-profile, multimillion-pound energy infrastructure project. This is a critical role for a "heavyweight" surveyor who thrives in fast-paced environments and enjoys a mix of site-based engagement and strategic commercial management.
Your Impact in the role?
As the commercial lead, you will be the backbone of the project’s financial health. You will:
- Commercial Leadership: Drive the commercial strategy across key infrastructure sites, ensuring all financial objectives are met.
- Contract Management: Act as the subject matter expert for NEC3/4 contracts, managing notifications, compensation events, and instructions.
- Supply Chain Oversight: Lead subcontractor procurement, valuations, and the settlement of final accounts.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate CVRs, cash flow forecasts, and project reports for senior stakeholders.
- Risk & Recovery: Proactively identify variations and delays, ensuring robust mitigation plans and cost recovery strategies are in place.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Project Managers, Engineers, and Finance teams to ensure operational delivery aligns with commercial targets.
What You Bring?
- Experience: Proven track record in Major Infrastructure (Energy, Rail, or Civils). Specific experience in Electricity Transmission (Substations/OHL) is highly advantageous.
- Technical Expertise: A deep understanding of NEC3/4 contract suites and commercial strategy.
- Education: Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying (or equivalent "graduate calibre" experience).
- Skills: Advanced negotiation skills, commercial "savviness," and proficiency in the MS Office Suite (particularly Excel).
- Requirements: A valid UK driving licence is essential for site-based travel.
