Overview

Our client is a leading global Independent Power Producer (IPP) with onshore renewable energy operations across seven countries. They are seeking an experienced Construction Director to lead and oversee construction activities across their international portfolio.

This senior leadership role is responsible for driving excellence in project delivery, cost efficiency, safety, and quality. The Construction Director will lead regional Heads of Construction, ensuring alignment with group strategy, standardised execution, and continuous improvement across all markets.

Responsibilities

Define and lead the group-wide construction strategy across multiple countries
Establish and implement standardised policies, KPIs, and reporting frameworks to ensure consistent project delivery
Lead, mentor, and develop regional Heads of Construction, setting clear objectives and driving high performance
Oversee a portfolio of large-scale projects, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to required quality standards
Monitor critical milestones and proactively identify and resolve project risks, delays, and performance issues
Drive cost control initiatives, value engineering, and efficient procurement strategies across all regions
Ensure the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental (HSE) compliance across all construction activities
Set, maintain, and continuously improve technical standards to ensure consistency and quality across the portfolio
Act as a key stakeholder interface with executive leadership, partners, contractors, and internal teams

Requirements

10+ years of progressive experience in construction or project management, ideally across multiple countries
Proven track record of leading senior construction teams and managing complex, multi-project portfolios
Strong experience delivering large-scale commercial, residential, hospitality, retail, or mixed-use projects
Demonstrated ability to operate effectively within international, matrix-managed organisations
Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline
In-depth knowledge of construction methodologies, contracts, and procurement models
Outstanding leadership, coaching, and decision-making capabilities
Fluency in English is essential
Italian language skills strongly preferred
Additional European languages are an advantage
