UK Confirms £310m AR7a Auction Budget to Support New Clean Energy Projects

Source: ReNews

The UK Government has confirmed a £310 million budget for the AR7a auction under the Contracts for Difference (CfD) scheme, supporting the next wave of clean energy deployment.

For the main offshore wind stream under Allocation Round 7 (AR7), the Government has also confirmed £1.08 billion of support funding. This includes £900 million for fixed bottom offshore wind and £180 million for floating offshore wind, showing strong backing for both mature and emerging technologies.

Supporting a Strong UK Renewable Pipeline

The AR7 and AR7a auctions are designed to help unlock major project investment across the UK clean energy sector. CfD support gives developers revenue stability when market prices are low, which helps accelerate final investment decisions and boosts confidence across the supply chain.

Industry analysis suggests that AR7 could help drive more than £11 billion of private sector investment into the UK economy over the coming years.

Positive Signals for Offshore Wind Jobs and Skills

Floating offshore wind now has a dedicated budget allocation, highlighting its importance to long term energy security. The UK supply chain is expected to benefit from new fabrication activity, port upgrades and ongoing operations roles as more projects move forward.

At LSP Renewables, we see this as a clear signal of commitment to offshore wind and a major opportunity for skilled professionals. Engineering, project delivery, cable and grid specialists, marine operations teams and more will all be in demand as projects reach the delivery stage.
