Positive Milestone for Taiwan's Offshore Wind Sector

LSP Renewables is pleased to acknowledge a significant milestone in Taiwan’s offshore wind journey, with Northland Power successfully delivering first power from the 1GW Hai Long project.

Now energised and connected to the Taipower grid, Hai Long is one of the region’s most ambitious offshore wind developments and represents a major step forward for the sector in Asia. With full operations targeted for 2027, this project will supply clean electricity to over one million Taiwanese households—making a meaningful contribution to the government’s 15GW offshore wind target by 2035.

As a global renewables recruitment and advisory partner, LSP Renewables recognises the Hai Long milestone as a clear signal of progress, not only for Taiwan’s growing offshore wind market but also for the wider APAC region.

Key achievements to date include:

  • Installation of 219 pin piles

  • Commissioning of offshore substations for Hai Long 2 and 3

  • Assembly of Taiwan’s first locally manufactured 14MW wind turbine nacelle

  • Installation of 14 out of 73 turbines

With demand for specialist skills, project management, and supply chain support continuing to rise in Taiwan and across Asia, we’re proud to support the growth of this critical sector.
