Octopus Energy, the UK's leading electricity supplier, has ventured into the US renewable energy market, marking the beginning of its $2 billion investment plan to be completed by 2030.

The company's entry into the US market includes acquiring two solar farms—one in Ohio and another in Pennsylvania—collectively capable of producing 100MW. These farms were purchased from Vesper Energy Development, a seasoned US renewable energy developer, and come with established long-term energy supply agreements.

This acquisition is part of Octopus Energy's ongoing investment surge in North American energy projects, following recent partnerships with Ocergy, a floating offshore wind technology firm, and Cultivo, a nature projects start-up.

Globally, Octopus Energy now manages a solar power portfolio of 2GW. In addition, it oversees 1.7GW of green energy projects, including onshore and offshore wind farms, across Europe, Australia, and future ventures in Asia and Africa.

The company has also introduced its advanced technology platform, Kraken, to North America. In collaboration with Tenaska in Texas, Kraken optimizes battery storage, and it has been licensed to the Canadian municipal utility Saint John Energy.

Octopus Energy's investors include Generation Investment Management, the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPP Investments), and San Francisco-based Galvanize Climate Solutions.

Performance Analyst - Onshore Renewables

The role can be based remotely anywhere in the UK or Ireland, and will be required in the Warrington office 4-5 times per year. Our client oversee the entire lifecycle of solar and wind projects from acquisition and development to construction, financing, operation, and divestment, optimising project performance and maximising investor returns. The successful candidate will manage the daily and long term performance of utility scale Solar PV and Onshore Wind assets across the UK and Ireland, managing all sites within the companies portfolio. Key Responsibilities Managing all sites within the Company’s portfolio ensuring that they are being effectively operated in order to optimise these assets in accordance with contractual, technical, environmental and budgetary requirements. Grid Manager - Solar PV

Our client is looking for an experienced Grid Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for the successful delivery of the Project Grid Connection. You will be a primary interface between the company, the grid operator and planning authorities. The main purpose of the Grid Manager will be to ensure the grid connections on the large-scale solar/Wind projects in Romania are delivered and to ensure that the connection process is appropriately managed from early design to successful completion. Key Responsibilities Develop and maintain excellent relationships with the TSO/DNO. Previous experience in the design and construction of HV/MV substations. Experience with construction of grid connections for solar plants. Ability to write reports and effectively communicate complex technical matters with clarity. Ability to work in a team environment including Operations team, Business Development, EPCs etc. Strong knowledge of the entire connection process in Romania: from grid offer request to the entry into operation, through all the intermediate steps (grid design validation, planning consent validation, operation agreement etc.). Strong knowledge of the requirement for grid code compliance, TSO/DNO connection procedure and administrative authorizations required for connection of renewable plants in the Italian market. A degree qualification in electrical power engineering or a mix of electrical/renewable energy engineering is mandatory. Knowledge and experience of power systems, power systems studies and grid connection of renewable projects in Italy. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or other related Engineering fields.
