Over the past year, I've seen a noticeable shift in confidence across the renewable energy supply chain. As projects move from planning into delivery, demand is growing across offshore wind, onshore wind, solar, battery storage, transmission and emerging technologies, creating opportunities throughout the global supply chain.
The wider market reflects this momentum. According to IRENA and the International Labour Organization, the global renewable energy workforce has reached 16.6 million people, while investment into energy transition supply chains has almost tripled, increasing from USD 46 billion in 2020 to USD 135 billion in 2023. As investment continues to grow, businesses are strengthening manufacturing capability, building more resilient supply chains and investing in long-term talent.
What stands out most to me is how conversations with clients have evolved. The focus is no longer just on hiring for today's projects, but on building the teams, partnerships and capability needed to support growth over the coming years. It's an exciting time for the sector, and one that presents significant opportunities for supply chain professionals and businesses alike.
