Ming Yang's Two New Brazil Deals

Chinese wind turbine manufacturer Ming Yang Smart Energy has signed two cooperation agreements in Brazil to accelerate offshore wind development across the country. The news was first reported by reNEWS.

New Deals in Brazil: MOU and Pilot Project LOI

  • Ming Yang and Blue Aspirations Brasil signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to explore offshore wind opportunities across the Brazilian market. The partnership aims to combine Ming Yang’s fixed and floating offshore wind turbine technologies with Blue Aspirations’ floating LiDAR systems and local project development capabilities.

  • In parallel, Ming Yang signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with SENAI‑RN related to the Areia Branca offshore wind pilot project. This agreement builds on a technical cooperation framework established in 2024 and supports Brazil’s first offshore wind test and demonstration facility, which already holds a preliminary environmental permit.

These agreements mark a significant expansion of Ming Yang’s footprint in Latin America and demonstrate growing momentum behind Brazil’s renewable ambitions.

Why This Matters

  • The MOU and LOI signal concrete steps toward deploying both fixed-bottom and floating offshore wind technologies in Brazil’s coastal waters.

  • The Areia Branca pilot will serve as a demonstration platform for offshore wind in Brazil — a vital first move for what could become a large-scale national offshore wind sector.

  • Technology transfer, local collaboration, and development of supply-chain readiness are now more likely, which could stimulate domestic investment, supply-chain jobs, and broader economic growth.

Opportunities for the Global Offshore Wind Workforce

As Brazil begins to move offshore wind from planning into execution, demand for talent in engineering, project development, marine logistics, and asset management will grow. Companies and professionals experienced in offshore wind development, turbine installation, environmental permitting, float-foundation design and offshore operations will be in high demand.

At LSP Renewables, we monitor these developments and stand ready to connect talent with offshore wind opportunities around the globe — including emerging markets such as Brazil.
