ACWA Power Signs Major Green Hydrogen Agreements with European Partners
Source: ReNews
According to reporting by ReNews, Saudi Arabian energy firm ACWA Power has signed a series of significant agreements with European partners to create a green hydrogen and renewable energy export corridor between the Middle East and Europe.
A multi-party memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed with Italy’s Edison SpA and Zhero Europe BV, France’s TotalEnergies Renewables SAS, and Germany’s EnBW. This collaborative framework aims to explore large-scale renewable energy projects in Saudi Arabia and develop infrastructure for energy export to Europe.
ACWA Power also signed individual MoUs with several key infrastructure providers, including CESI, Prysmian, GE Vernova, Siemens Energy, and Hitachi. These agreements target the development of advanced high-voltage transmission corridors to improve reliability and efficiency in cross-border clean energy delivery.
One of the headline agreements is a joint development deal with EnBW to work on the Yanbu Green Hydrogen Hub, which is scheduled for commercial operation by 2030.
These developments were formalised during a green hydrogen export workshop led by ACWA Power under the oversight of Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Energy, and they align closely with the ambitions of the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC) project.
At LSP Renewables, we’re closely tracking how international partnerships are accelerating hydrogen sector growth – especially as hydrogen hubs become more integrated with Europe’s future energy mix.
We continue to support talent acquisition across green hydrogen infrastructure, project development, and HVDC transmission engineering.
