GREECE SET SAIL TOWARDS A GREENER FUTURE!

This morning, the Greek government has introduced plans to make an investment of over €6bn, with the hope of reaching a target of 1900MW of offshore wind installations by 2030.

Renowned for its breathtaking landscapes, rich history, and sunny Mediterranean shores, Greece is embarking on a journey towards a greener future.

An event held in Athens on Tuesday welcomed the ‘National Offshore Wind Farm Development Programme’ announcement from HEREMA, as they discussed the plan mainly floating offshore wind projects across 25 areas (totalling 2,712 square kilometres).

Greek Minister of Environment and Energy, Thodoros Skylakakis said “The development of these projects is a national priority not only because it will contribute decisively to our energy independence, but also because it enables us to export green energy in the future. It therefore gives us the opportunity for further economic growth and the opportunity to strengthen our country’s role as a critical regional energy hub.”

With up to €440million in government revenue, a boost in GDP of up to €1.9billion, and 44,400 jobs being supported per year, the programme is providing great benefits to Greece and its people.
