The Opportunity
Our client is a leading owner and operator of critical electricity transmission infrastructure supporting the UK's transition to a low-carbon energy system.
They are looking to recruit an experienced Senior Asset Manager to take responsibility for the day-to-day management and operation of a portfolio of high-voltage transmission assets. Working as part of the Operations team, you will combine technical expertise with commercial awareness to ensure assets are operated safely, efficiently and in accordance with the highest industry standards.
This position offers the opportunity to broaden your experience across operational management, asset performance and project delivery, supporting major infrastructure that forms a vital part of the UK's energy transition.
The role is primarily based at an onshore high-voltage substation in the East of England, with regular travel to offshore assets and occasional visits to other UK operational sites and corporate offices. Participation in an out-of-hours call-out rota will also be required.

Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Ensuring Health, Safety and Environmental compliance across operations and maintenance activities.
- Managing site safety, including operational and safety switching, issuing safety documentation and reviewing RAMS.
- Maintaining a thorough understanding of the company's Electrical Safety Rules and retaining Senior Authorised Person (SAP) status.
- Day-to-day operational management of high-voltage transmission assets.
- Managing Operations & Maintenance contractors.
- Planning and coordinating both onshore and offshore maintenance activities.
- Developing detailed knowledge of the asset portfolio to support fault response and operational decision making.
- Supporting the development and implementation of asset management and maintenance strategies.
- Maximising asset availability and operational performance.
- Implementing and improving operational procedures and site processes.
- Developing contingency and emergency response plans.
- Managing engineering and maintenance projects with values up to approximately £500,000, including specification development, procurement support and contractor management.
- Providing technical and operational input into future infrastructure projects and investment opportunities.
- Supporting the development of company policies, procedures and technical documentation.
- Producing operational reports for senior management.
- Liaising with the UK transmission system operator, transmission network operators and other key stakeholders.
- Developing business cases and managing capital investment projects.
We're interested in speaking with candidates who have experience in:
- High Voltage transmission or distribution networks.
- Offshore Transmission Owner (OFTO), utility or power generation environments.
- Asset management, operations or maintenance of HV electrical infrastructure.
- Senior Authorised Person (SAP) responsibilities.
- Contractor management.
- Operational planning and outage coordination.
- Delivering engineering or maintenance projects.
- Strong knowledge of health, safety and operational compliance within the power sector.
Education, Work Experience & Qualifications:
- Degree/HNC level, with a successful track record within power infrastructure management, ideally in the Offshore Wind Industry or UK Electricity Supply Industry (experience may be taken into account instead of qualification)
- Experience in the UK electricity supply or offshore industries, including:
- Knowledge of Health and Safety policy and legislation, electrical safety rules
- Holds a current HV SAP authorisation ≥132kV
- Fault response / repair
- Knowledge of asset management procedures
- Experience of contract management and managing outsourced O&M activities.
- Track record of successfully managing critical electrical assets.
- Ability to attain Senior Authorised Person’s authorisation, under the companies relevant electrical safety rules.
- Possession of GWO certification, or capability to achieve certification (training will be provided) as well as the capability to pass an offshore medical certification.

- Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
- Experience of project management/development
- Detailed asset specific knowledge: e.g. transformers, cables, switchgear, light current (protection and SCADA), offshore structures
- Knowledge of Grid Code / SO-TO code interface procedures
- Experience of submarine cable surveys, reburial and repair preparedness
- IOSH, NEBOSH or other relevant safety qualifications
