Resident Engineer (Civil Infrastructure)

Our client is looking for a Resident Engineer (Civil Infrastructure) to support the delivery of a major renewable energy project across various sites in Scotland. This role will focus on the civil infrastructure prior to cable installation.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the client’s representative on site, monitoring civil engineering works and ensuring compliance with designs and specifications.
• Review and interpret civil engineering designs, drawings, and specifications.
• Conduct site assurance and engineering activities, identifying and escalating issues to the engineering manager.
• Oversee underground infrastructure works, including trenching, duct installation, backfilling, and earthworks.
• Ensure the proper management of temporary access roads and working areas.
• Maintain knowledge of works around crossings, such as roads, rivers, and railways.
• Check work against construction drawings and specifications, identifying changes, non-compliance, and quality concerns.
• Communicate regularly with the engineering manager to report on progress and issues.
• Travel to various sites across Scotland as required.

About You

• Background in civil engineering with experience in major civil construction schemes.
• Comfortable working on site and undertaking engineering assurance activities.
• Experience with underground infrastructure works, including trenching and excavation.
• Knowledge of open cut excavation and/or horizontal directional drilling is beneficial.
• Experience in site assurance, quality surveillance, or similar client-side oversight roles.
• Strong communication skills to effectively report issues and updates.
• Energy sector experience is preferred but not essential; experience in large drainage schemes, utilities, highways, rail, or water projects is also suitable.
• Based in Scotland, ideally near Caithness, Aberdeenshire, or the Inverness/West Coast route.
• Must have a driving license and own car for site travel.
• Self-sufficient and capable of working independently.
