Overview
The Field Service Engineer will attend a range of customer sites to maintain ground-mounted solar PV systems on a day-to-day basis, carrying out maintenance activities, testing and fault diagnosis to ensure optimal system performance.

The Field Service Engineer will attend a range of customer sites to maintain ground-mounted solar PV systems on a day-to-day basis, carrying out maintenance activities, testing and fault diagnosis to ensure optimal system performance.
Responsibilities
- Carry out routine maintenance, testing and remedial work on deployed solar PV systems.
- Comply with BOL procedures at all times.
- Perform preventative maintenance in accordance with the annual PPM plan.
- Perform corrective maintenance as required.
- Report site activities completed on a daily basis through the CMMS or via manual reports, as applicable.
- Undertake site-specific risk assessments, identify operational limitations and report all near misses to the line manager.
- Supervise and coordinate third-party contractors working on site to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of electrical testing suitable for audit purposes.
- Carry out fault-finding on systems that are not performing correctly.
- Maintain data security and confidentiality by handling information only within the scope of the role, relevant SLAs, company data policies and privacy notices and statutory requirements under GDPR and associated UK legislation, with particular care for CCTV and other personal data.
- Comply with all applicable fire, health and safety requirements for the working environment, including reviewing current policies and risk assessments, attending required training and adhering to biosecurity and confined-space protocols where relevant.
Requirements
- Proven solar PV O&M experience within utility-scale solar.
- Experience in network diagnostics and remote communications.
- Competence in LV/HV planned preventative maintenance, including G59/G99 knowledge.
- Familiarity with earthing systems, including relay measurement and monitoring.
- Strong understanding of central and string inverters, supported by relevant manufacturer training.
- High level of proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, as well as CMMS and reporting software.
- Knowledge of power electronics, circuitry, power generation technologies and associated equipment.
- Good understanding of CCTV systems.
- Relevant qualification in an electrical, mechanical, or engineering discipline.
- City & Guilds 17th/18th Edition BS 7671 Wiring Regulations.
- City & Guilds 2399-13 Solar PV Installation.
- City & Guilds 2399-14 Solar PV Maintenance, or equivalent.
- Advanced Apprenticeship in Electrical Installation.
- AP15/OP40 certification.
- City & Guilds 2391-52 Test and Inspect, or equivalent.
