As one of the UK’s biggest Independent Connection Providers (ICPs), they keep distribution networks running smoothly. Their folks install and maintain networks and ensure customers get reliable connections by handling electrical work, customer connections, and network reinforcement.

Ready to lead a team and power up high-voltage designs? We're hunting for a Senior Design Engineer to spearhead the design process for UKPN substation projects. You’ll coordinate everything—making sure it’s smooth sailing, on point, and hitting the mark. What you'll be doing:

Leading a team of design engineers, mentoring, and setting a high-performance example
Owning designs from single-line diagrams to HV cable layouts
Reviewing and approving critical calculations
Ensuring compliance with UKPN standards, BS EN, IEC regs
Serving as the main design contact for clients and teams
Collaborating with project managers and crews for smooth delivery
Harmonising designs with civil, mechanical, and commissioning teams
Supporting tenders and procurement with technical expertise
Troubleshooting during installation, testing, and commissioning
Visiting sites and attending meetings to align designs with execution

What you’ll bring:

Degree in Electrical Engineering (Bachelor’s or Master’s)
5+ years in HV substation design (up to 132kV)
Deep knowledge of UKPN standards and HV design
Skilled in AutoCAD, Amtech, ETAP, or similar tools
Leadership and mentoring experience

Nice-to-haves:

Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards it
BIM and 3D design experience
Familiarity with UKPN substation projects

Soft Skills:

Strong leadership and decision-making
Excellent communication skills
Full UK Driving Licence
