Senior Earthing Engineer
Our client is looking for an experienced Senior Earthing Engineer to engage with a dynamic and collaborative engineering team in this role that provides an opportunity to influence national projects in sectors such as energy, rail, defence, and renewables, while mentoring the next generation of engineers. As a Senior Earthing Project Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and compliance of essential infrastructure that maintains the UK's power and protection.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop innovative earthing and lightning protection system designs using CDEGS and related software.
• Lead the design and analysis of electrical safety systems at substations, power stations (including nuclear), rail, MOD, and renewable sites.
• Mentor and guide Graduate and Project Engineers to strengthen team capability.
• Conduct site-based surveys and resistivity testing across the UK as needed.
• Collaborate with clients to understand technical requirements, produce reports, and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Present findings and project scopes to clients, ensuring clear communication and understanding.
• Apply strong electrical theory to real-world challenges, ensuring practical and effective solutions.
Qualifications
• Honours degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
• Extensive experience with CDEGS software and earthing system design across multiple project types.
• Field testing and site survey experience, with strong technical report writing skills.
• Proven knowledge of high-voltage systems, ideally from 275kV to 400kV.
• Progress towards IEng or CEng status is highly desirable.
• Experience in mentoring junior engineers is advantageous.
